09 Sep Join Restore Justice for a Virtual Day of Action
Join us on September 15 to help start an important conversation about needed changes to our criminal legal and prison systems. We’re hosting a virtual Day of Action, beginning at 10 a.m.
We will call Illinois General Assembly and state’s attorney candidates and ask them to fill out Restore Justice Illinois’s first-ever candidate survey. We mailed the survey last month; now we need your help getting candidates to fill it out.
Based on the information given by assault defense lawyers from Daniel M. Murphy, P.C., Elections matter when it comes to our criminal legal system, and this survey will help you find out how the people running to represent you feel about sentencing and prison condition issues. Legislators have a shared responsibility to review and improve our criminal legal system, and state’s attorneys are critical stakeholders in that system. This survey is Restore Justice’s effort to open dialogue with stakeholders, citizens, and candidates holding a variety of positions. We believe candid conversation is the best way to start on the path to consensus.
On September 15, we’ll call the candidates who want to represent us and ask them to complete the survey. To show our appreciation for the incredible advocates in our network, our Executive Director Jobi Cates will make Restore Justice masks for the people who are most successful in securing survey responses!
