Dialogue: What’s in the Criminal Law Omnibus Bill?
Join a panel of advocates on Saturday, February 20 at 10 a.m. to break down the criminal law omnibus bill, House Bill 3653, Senate Amendment 2. We will delve through the 764-page bill and provide guidance for talking about key provisions.
We want to bring the criminal legal reform advocacy community together so we can all better understand the bill and better explain it. Our goal is to empower people to push back against rampant misinformation.
This dialogue will connect you with the advocates who helped bring different sections of the bill to the Legislature’s attention. You’ll have a chance to talk with these experts on the policing, pre-trial fairness, in-custody (jails), sentencing, Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), and other sections of the bill. Learn what the bill does, what changes may need to be made, and how you can successfully rebut the opposition.
