Restore Justice Illinois is excited to announce our endorsed candidates for the June 28th primary election. All of these candidates have demonstrated support for abolishing life without parole sentences for children and young adults. All three of these races are also top targets for the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police, and the FOP has poured money into unseating these three candidates who support criminal legal reform.
State Senator Robert Martwick (Democrat, Senate District 10):
Voted yes on the SAFE-T Act to narrow felony murder, eliminate money bond, and more
Has supported all of Restore Justice’s bills while holding state office
Serves as an important voice for criminal legal reform on the Senate Criminal Law Committee
Supports investing resources in schools, affordable housing, jobs programs, and more to make communities safer
State Representative Lindsey LaPointe (Democrat, House District 19):
Voted yes on the SAFE-T Act to narrow felony murder, eliminate money bond, and more
Voted yes on HB 1064 to abolish life without parole sentences for most people under the age of 21
Supports evidence-based anti-violence interventions like transitional jobs in neighborhoods most affected to reduce violence
Has been a long-time advocate for evidence-based and humane practices that reform the criminal legal system and have been proven to make communities safer at a lower cost to taxpayers
State Representative Sonya Harper (Democrat, House District 6):
Voted yes on the SAFE-T Act to narrow felony murder, eliminate money bond, and more
Voted yes on HB 1064 to abolish life without parole sentences for most people under the age of 21
Strong advocate for removing barriers for people with criminal records
